Happy Pumpkin Day!

Alright, So...I have become a person that actually enjoys decorating pumpkins. This happened to be my second pumpkin that I ever carved! It would have been my first if it had not been for my former roommate Jamie, introducing me to the sport 2 years ago. If you are not accustomed to carving pumpkins let me be the one to encourage you to try. Joshua said, "this is the funnest thing ever!" It does not have to be something scary but I think it is so much fun. Try it, you will love it!

San Antonio

I guess it is about time to report about my trip to San Antonio. Karen and I went down there to visit and do the "tourist thing" two weekends ago. We had so much fun seeing the Alamo, doing the river walk, and shopping in riverside mall. We also met some of her friends for lunch and went to see where she will be staying during the week, when she starts Physician's Assistant school down there in December. This is Karen with a "pirate" when we were walking around the grounds of the Alamo. They were having a reenactment day there where people could observe how they lived back in the early 1800's. I really don't think he was a pirate but that is what we thought he looked like. So..Karen snuck behind him so that we could take his picture.
This is Karen and me with a Davy Crockett character. He is famous to the Alamo because he came to fight here and ended up loosing his life at the battle of the Alamo. This man let Karen hold his gun for the picture. Don't worry, she knows what she is doing. She is really good at target practice. When we were at Cabela's she did really well at the rifle shooting contest. All I shot was the bear but she shot everything else.
You can pray for Karen as her husband Kitt who is deployed right now. Also pray for her as she starts school in San Antonio. We got to know each other at Hill Country Church. She actually went to Applatian State University. She was involved in RUF (Reformed University Fellowship) there as I was in RUF at Anderson College. Her group went to the retreats and we probably met before or even roomed in the same cabin but did not know it. It has been crazy to see how small the world really is!
This is a picture taken of the River Walk. It was so beautiful! There were restaurants all along the river and lots of different stores to shop in. If you recognize this, some of the movie Selena was filmed here on one of these bridges. I saw it the other day so I know. Karen and I made up a love story about a river boat tour guide and a waitress. It was a lot of fun and I am so glad that I got to experience that.
Lastly, here we are at the Rainforest Cafe. Every 10-15 minutes there was a thunderstorm and then every 5 minutes the elephants and gorillas would do a rainforest dance. The whole experience was a great one and I hope to get to visit there again someday soon. I hope everyone is having a great week! I miss you all and would love to hear from you if you get a chance. Until then...

Hill Country

"Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. I thank my God always concerning you for the grace of God which was given you in Christ Jesus, that in everything you were enriched in Him in all speech, and all knowledge, even as the testimony concerning Christ was confirmed in you so that you are not lacking in any gift, awaiting eagerly the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ who will also confirm you to the end, blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is faithful, through whom you were called into fellowship with His Son Jesus Christ our Lord." 1 Corinthians 1:3-9

May God continue to bless Hill Country Presbyterian Church, PCA. They have been such a blessing to me through the adjustment time of the move and with everything. I pray that the Lord would continue to use Lou Best, the pastor, and his wife, Shirley to further the Kingdom of God. Please pray for this group as many of the soldiers have been and will be deploying soon. Also for their families that they will be leaving behind. Please also pray for the continuing growth and of the church group. It is currently a Sunday evening Bible Study. We are going through the Book of John but hopefully we will be able to launch formal worship soon.

You know, It is sometimes so hard to think about being away from all who knew me growing up, everyone I have recently met and have become friends with, and my family but when we have Christ in our lives there is always family close by us. It is remarkable to see how a common bond can bring so many people together. People from such different backgrounds and geographic areas that have Christ as their focus and thier Father. "Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us, to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations forever and ever" Eph 3:20-21
