Happy May!

Today is the first day of May! May is significant to me in so many ways. It is not only the month of my birth, it is when all the beautiful flowers come out every year, it also is the end of the school year for some, and it always reminds me of hot air balloons that come to Anderson, SC every year for a hot air balloon festival. Even though I heard that Freedom Weekend Aloft will not be in Anderson anymore, May still makes me think about all the fun years of enjoying the festival with family and friends.
This year, Joshua and Sydney were required to do wildflower projects at their school. We were able to pick and study the different wildflowers that are in this area of Texas. This project was a lot of fun and very educational for all of us. At the end of their books, they had to include a verse of Scripture that partained to flowers. Sydney choose the verse in 1 Peter 1:24-25, "All flesh is like grass, and all its glory like the flower of grass. The grass withers, and the flower falls off, but the Word of the Lord endures forever." (it is also found in Isaiah 40:8) What an amazing God we have that meets us exactly where we are. I know that in a few weeks all of the beautiful flowers that are around here will die because of the heat and the rocky soil. God promises us in Isaiah 55:10-11 "For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven and do not return there without watering the earth and making it bear and sprout, and furnishing seed to the sower and bread to the eater; so will My Word be which goes forth from My mouth; It will not return to Me empty, without accomplishing what I desire, and without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it." Take comfort in knowing that you can always count on God's Word and that it will never return void. Like the flowers that come back year after year, and the seasons that He gives us we can always count on, He will continue to be faithful to be with you in every season of your life. We can always count on Him to bring beauty back into our lives despite whatever "heat or rocky soil" comes in our path. So..."Seek the Lord while He may be found; call upon Him while He is near" (55:6)
